Ohio Mayors endorse Zack Space for Ohio Auditor of State

COLUMBUS -- Former United States Congressman Zack Space today announced the endorsement of 16 Mayors in communities across Ohio in his campaign for Ohio Auditor of State. The Mayors lead a collection of Ohio’s largest cities, such as Columbus, Cincinnati, and Toledo, as well as some of its smallest villages, such as Glouster (pop. 1,793) and Amesville (pop. 157) in Athens County.

“Mayors are on the front lines of Ohio’s communities, working with first responders, fixing potholes, and balancing budgets,” said Zack Space on Tuesday.

“Having the support of this group of Mayors -- which represents the geographic diversity of our state -- is extra special, because they know better than anyone else the disastrous results associated with a state government that answers to special interests instead of the people of Ohio.”

"Zack Space is from and for Appalachian Ohio, and he understands the challenges faced by families across the state who have been left behind by our broken political system," said Chillicothe Mayor Luke Feeney. “Zack has demonstrated a commitment to making government work for all Ohioans, and not just the wealthy and well connected.”

"All Ohioans deserve effective representation, whether they live in a big city like Cincinnati or small town in Appalachia,” said Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley. “I know that nobody will work harder than Zack Space to change Ohio’s broken political system and restore faith in our government.

“Small communities like Glouster have been seriously wounded by a state government that answers to special interests and the powerful,” said Glouster Mayor Miles Wolf. “Zack Space understands the importance of places like Glouster, and will fight like hell to make sure our government answers to the people, no matter where they live or how much money sits in their bank account.”

The endorsement of these Mayors comes on the heels of the endorsement of Ohio’s Democratic Congressional delegation, and the endorsement of over 30 Democratic County Chairs across Ohio last month.

Space’s campaign is highlighting the corrupting influence of money and campaign contributions in politics, as well as the destructive results associated with extreme partisan gerrymandering. The Auditor’s office serves as a watchdog of taxpayer money and has broad investigatory power to examine the actions of state government.
